misaligned voice coil gap

the way i see it.. large format drivers are heavy, and this one obviously dropped. when upon inspection of the voice coil gap in this 288k it was clear one side was much wider than the other. in fact i dont think it couldve shifted any further. that said how is one to rectify this situation? no i didnt drop it, it was probably someone who didnt have to pay for it

Sounds like an expensive doorstop unles you had insurance. Call Bill to know for sure. Bummer.

On second thought, make sure it's not just a floating Tangerine, which can be reglued. If the pole's floating, it's probably toast.

actually..2 for 140 inclunding shipping. both diaphragms looked as if they had 500 watts of 40hz signal run thru them for hours. i had replacements from bill ofcourse. so yeah for one shot driver..kinda. and as for a door stop, kinda goes with theme around here anyway. how'd ya like to stub your toe on that at 4 am?

I had to go look, on a K, the tangerine IS the pole...better call Bill.

As heavy as these are, one has to wonder how the other guy looked when a 288 gets KO'd.
